Thanksgiving Decorations

It’s that time of the year when we express gratitude to the Almighty for being so good to us and for giving us our daily bread, a home, good health and a renewed hope for the future. We also remember the special people in our lives and look forward to a spiritual revival on Thanksgiving Day. In order to honor this day, we should take time to make the Thanksgiving decorations and although Halloween’s funky decorations and the splendor of Christmas overshadow the Thanksgiving period, you must decorate your home with Thanksgiving decorations for this important celebration.

There are many ideas for Thanksgiving decorations which include the following: Many pillar candles in the same solid color can be placed each on silk fall leaves and to get a special fall appearance, make sets of candles in different heights and put some nuts or gourds at the base of the candles. Put fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts in bowls and baskets made of brass or silver and decorate your Thanksgiving buffet table with the same. In case you want to keep your buffet table decorated in this way for a long time, you can use artificial fruits and vegetables for Thanksgiving decorations.

A very convenient idea is to buy fall colors and Thanksgiving decorations at your local store and place them at all those places where you had placed the reds and greens during Christmas. You can also utilize the following ideas: clay pots and saucers can be spray painted with a metallic gold hue and coasters, utensils and candleholders can be decorated as well, garlands can be made from leaves, berries, fruits and fall colored ribbons and hung from doorways or any other place and bundles of wheat can be tied with wire-edged ribbon and hung on doors or fireplaces.

Cheap glass balls can be placed in a bowl and decorated with some sprigs of greenery or ribbon. A box covered with balance Christmas wrap or a little fabric and glue can be used if an extra bowl is not available. A great Thanksgiving decorations idea is to take off the pictures from the wall, gift wrap them and then hang them back. Do not cluster all the walls but maybe just in the entry or the dining room.

An important aspect of Thanksgiving decorations is preparation of a proper backdrop. Windows and tables can be layered with fabrics and maybe with some area rugs or some of your richly colored summer accessories. These need not be expensive items as you can check up your linen closet or your local thrift store for quilts and sheets. Warm hues of fleece can be sewed to make these items look nice. You can also trade these linens or accessories with what is available with your friends and in the process you can have a nice afternoon tete-a-tete.

Thanksgiving can be converted into a special occasion with Thanksgiving decorations by serving burgers on your exquisite china and placing a vase of fall flowers on the breakfast table. You can also go to a farmers market and exhibit your special ware placed in beautiful baskets that you can buy from the dollar shop. Other ideas include: tying fall ribbon on the backs of dining chairs and around throw pillows or guest towels and writing inspirational messages on bathroom mirrors for the benefit of your kids and your guests.

Thanksgiving decorations can be fun if you use these great ideas. Your loved ones will also enjoy the celebrations and will be grateful to you for having taken care of their homes and making them special with these decorations. Moreover, you wouldn’t have burned a hole in your pocket for undertaking these decorations.
